Gervinho was suspended for violent conduct, the FA said on its website Tuesday.
Ivory Coast international hit Joey Barton, who was shown a yellow card in the face as the players on both sides were involved in a melee during the second half 0-0 at St James’ Park.
Arsenal and Newcastle were charged Monday by the FA for failing to control their players.
Gervinho, who joined the French club Lille last month, left Saturday’s game at home to Liverpool, 28 August Champions League visit of Manchester United and a home meeting promoted Swansea City on September 10.
